16th November 2019 – Bitches
Judge: Yvonne Cox (Zeloviak)
My sincere thanks to the Committee of SWDC for their invitation, warm hospitality on the day & beautiful keepsake. Thanks to my stewards Ruth & Sarah who kept the ring running smoothly but most of all to the exhibitors who made my first time awarding tickets so very special; thank you all for bringing your lovely girls under me, it was a privilege to judge them.
A super venue with a large ring but footing proved problematic for a few exhibits who struggled with the carpeted floor. Temperaments were excellent without exception; it was however a shame to see a few with dirty teeth & some long nails.
In agreement with my co-judge, BIS was Manzart Voodoo Magic JW, RBIS was Ch/Ir Ch Jojavik Midnight Express JW ShCM, BPIS was Manzart Wise Guy and BVIS was Izralight Sugababe JW ShCM.
Veteran Bitch (5,2) What a lovely way to start my judging with these oldies who were clearly all enjoying their day out; I wish I’d had 3 red cards.
1st Gallagher’s Izralight Sugababe JW ShCM. 7 ½ year old black with the darkest of rust markings of standard size. Pleasing head with dark, almond eyes, a keen expression & neat, well set ears. Arched neck flowing into correctly laid shoulders, ample forechest. Well sprung ribs & a firm topline held on the move, desired turn of stifle & standing on tight feet. Moved effortlessly around the ring, straight & true, just like she did as a youngster, in super condition & handled to perfection, delighted she was Best Veteran In Show.
2nd Ryman’s Branchhouse Spanish Lace. 9 year old black/rust of similar type to one & also in great condition. Good head planes with pronounced stop & dark eye. Ample forechest, good depth of chest & sweeping tuck up, balanced angulation fore & aft, strong bone & tight feet. Moved well & seemed to thoroughly enjoy her time in the ring.
3rd Schneiders Shantock Aurora
Minor Puppy (2,1)
1st Barnett, Gaynor & Gaynor’s Manzart Wicked Witch. 7 month old black & rust standard bitch. Strong headpiece, compact muzzle & well filled under the eye. Ample forechest, strong round bone & stands on tight feet. Excellent depth of brisket, tight elbows & pronounced tuck up, longer in loin. Back needs to tighten, balanced angulation. Gives her handler a hard time on the move. Best Puppy Bitch, RBPIS.
Junior Bitch (3,0)
1st Brannan, Graham & Mycroft’s Supeta’s Whole Lotta Rosie With Sharhyste. 14 month old substantial bitch of the richest dark brown & rust in good, hard condition. Strong yet feminine head with the darkest of eye, alert expression & good depth of muzzle. Substantial forechest and a straight, close coupled firm topline. Well off for bone throughout, with balanced angulation and well let down hocks. Stands four square on good feet. Moved and handled well.
2nd Edwards & Molloy’s Wintablizzard Running Deep. 17 month old black & rust of a finer type to 1. Feminine head but ears a little large. Elegant outline with ample forechest, depth just down to elbow & crisp tuck up. Not the reach of neck of 1, balanced fore & aft. Ample bone & cat like feet, with a gleaming coat, moved OK.
3rd Hutchison’s Supeta’s Girls Got Rhythm For Debison.
Yearling Bitch (1,1)
Novice Bitch (3,0)
1st Heffernan’s Avamer Maple. Black & rust standard sized bitch with a smart outline. Pleasing head but eye a little round. Firm neck flows into a strong, straight topline. Good shoulder angulation matched with a sweeping stifle. Brisket just to elbow, feet could be tighter. Handler could do more to get the best out of her, moved OK with a runner but always looking for where her ‘Mum’ is.
2nd Flower’s Phoenix Del Tibur Of Chopitea. Black & dark rust with a feminine head but ears set a little low. Fine, reachy neck & ample forechest, depth not quite down to elbows. Balanced angulation with straight hocks, tight, cat like feet. Handled well, moved OK.
3rd Capell’s Ruholfia Jasmine In Llepac (IKC)
Graduate Bitch (4,1)
1st Ryman’s Dobehaven Memphis Belle. 2 Year old black & rust compact bitch. Feminine head with good planes & small, neat, well set ears. Dark eye with alert expression. Arched neck of adequate length into good front assembly, excellent depth of chest with tight elbows. Stands on straight legs with tight feet, strong topline held on the move, moved well.
2nd Mycroft’s Supeta’s Put A Spell On You JW. 19 month old black & rust, another compact bitch, stronger head than 1 with good depth of muzzle & well filled under the eye. Swan like neck flows into muscular topline. Pronounced forechest, standing four square on round bone & tight feet. Excellent turn of stifle & defined second thigh. Handled & moved very well.
3rd Tyler’s Nyx Asteri Wot A Thriller (Imp Fra)
Post Graduate (3,1)
1st Plummer’s Aritaur Ginerosity JW. 2 year old standard sized black & rust compact, square bitch. Lovely feminine head with good planes, well filled under the eye & good depth of muzzle, would prefer a little more underjaw. Reachy neck flows into correctly placed shoulders, excellent depth of chest with tight elbows. Ample forechest & good spring of rib. Strong, straight legs on cat like feet and desired turn of stifle enabled her to move freely around this big ring. She has matured into a cracking young lady and pushed all the way in the challenge, I’m sure her day will come.
2nd Jones’s Cara Iz Zoosfery For Korifey (Imp Rus). Different type to 1. Standard black & rust with impressive head creating a perfect blunt wedge with the darkest of eye. Arched neck flowing into straight topline, pronounced forechest with balanced angulation. Strong, round bone & stands on the tightest of catlike feet. Longer in loin than 1. Schooled & handled to perfection, in hard condition & moved with vigour.
Limit Bitch (7,2)
1st Everley’s Manzart Voodoo Magic JW. 2 year old black/rust whom I’d admired when I judged her as a youngster, today she grabbed my attention as she entered the ring & kept it for the rest of the day. Stunning, classic outline on this standard sized girl, nothing is exaggerated or overdone but everything I was looking for was there. Feminine head with good length & depth of muzzle, pronounced stop & dark, alert eye. Elegant neck into well laid shoulders, ample forechest & depth of brisket to tight elbows. Slightly sloping topline & sweeping tuck up with desired turn of stifle and prominent second thigh. Stands on strong, straight legs with tight feet & well let down hocks and boy can she move; she moved confidently around the ring with reach & drive and one of the very few that can do it in a straight line! What she may lack in ‘flash’ she makes up for in honesty & balance, a super bitch who exudes elegance and grace. Handled quietly to perfection in both her class & the challenge, I was delighted to award her the CC and in agreement with my co-judge Best In Show.
2nd Tinsley & Adams’s Sherrebenca Magic Potion. 4 Year old black/rust compact close coupled bitch. Good head with dark eye & alert expression, preferred the reach of neck of 1. Ample forechest & balanced angulation fore & aft with a good spring of rib. Sloping topline which she held on the move & defined tuck up, muscular second thigh. Moved with reach & drive & handled well.
3rd Mycroft’s Sant Kreal Jewel For Supeta JW (Imp Rus)
Open Bitch (4,0)
1st Ingram’s Jojavik Forget Me Not JW ShCM. 3 year old black/rust stands four square with the crispest of elegant outlines so typical of the consistent quality this kennel produces. Feminine head with dark eye, would prefer a little more underjaw, good planes & clean neck sloping into strong topline held on the move. Ample forechest with good depth of brisket & tight elbows, super tuck up. Well let down hocks & standing on the tightest of catlike feet, strode out well using this big ring to her advantage.
2nd Lainchbury’s Ashlain Trypiti JW ShCM. 4 year old black/rust shown in hard condition. Pleasing head with good planes & depth of muzzle, again, would prefer a little more underjaw. Arched neck flows into pronounced forechest with well sprung ribs & tight elbows. Good round bone & tight feet. Longer in loin than 1 but with a more desirable turn of stifle, moved & handled to advantage.
3rd Cattermole’s Supeta’s Phoenix For Kalvadene JW ShCM
Champion Bitch (5,2) Had to nitpick between this quality trio of champions
1st Everley’s Ch. Manzart Vogue JW ShCM. 2 year old black/rust of super quality. Alert & attentive to her handler at all times, this girl has a gorgeous head; good depth & length of muzzle with defined markings with a dark, almond eye. Excellent front assembly with ample forechest & good depth of brisket. Sweeping tuck up & strong, sloping topline into muscular, well angulated hind quarters which she uses to advantage on the move, another who can move in a straight line. This flashy girl had to give way to her littermate in the challenge on overall balance but I couldn’t deny her & was pleased to award her the RCC.
2nd Jones’s Ch/Lux Ch. Korifey Treasure JW ShCM. 3 year old brown/rust with the richest of dark jackets and shown in absolutely fighting fit condition, muscles rippling under my fingers. Stunning showgirl who demands your attention, she has a super headpiece; strong yet retaining femininity with excellent planes and a very dark eye of good shape. Lovely reach of neck into sloping topline, pronounced forechest with superb depth of brisket extending well below her tight elbows. Strong, round bone standing on tight feet, super tuck up & well let down hocks. Prefer turn of stifle of 1. Moved well and handled to perfection pushing 1 all the way for this class.
3rd Ingram’s Ch/Ir Ch. Jojavik Poison Ivy JW ShCM CW16
