First of all please can I thank you and your committee for allowing me to judge at your show. I enjoyed every minute of being there. The event and venue were a credit to you all. Thank you so very much for my beautiful gift. Please convey my thanks to all your committee members . It is hard work organising and running these events, been there myself, so you all deserve a pat on the back!

Judging critique for Dobermann dogs at South West Dobermann Club held at Forest Oak Farm, Purlieu, on 21st November, 2015.

It was a great pleasure to judge Dobermann dogs at South West Dobermann Club Show on 21st November, 2015. Thank you to everyone for attending and to the committee for organising a great event at a fabulous new venue.

All the dogs had good temperaments. But heads and expression and true dobermann working instinctive behaviour is being lost. Fronts are an ongoing project. Some shoulders were set too far forward and upper arm much too steep. Movement is sometimes lacking but has a lot to do with handler’s presentation. Please pay attention to how your dog is moving whilst you are exhibiting him, so that you get the best from him. Profile movement was excellent is some exhibits, tracking up correctly without overreaching. All exhibits were presented in fine fettle and were a pleasure to go over.

Veteran(1)
1 Pollard’s CH Amazon Eldorado at Whizzbean JW SCHM. Pleasing dog. Strong head of good shape. Well placed ears. Muscular neck. Good front and rear angulation. Strong chest well let down to elbow, giving heart and lung room. Strong limbs with tight feet. Moved well when he got into his stride. Overall excellent. Best veteran in show.

Minor Puppy (8,4abs)
1 Rodgers’ Aritaur Jamacia Me Crazy at Nolatari. Lovely brown youngster who has a long way to go! Interesting well chiselled head, although ears a little large at present. Good reach of neck, slightly sloping topline and well let down to elbow. Moved very well. Just went off the boil in puppy.
2 Godfrey’s Dobshangrila Ronaldo (taf). Liked this one very much too. Pleasing head. Good body outline for age .has elegance and style and moved very well.
3 Lainchbury’s Ashlain Sotiros.

Puppy (4)
1 Layton’s Ottia Uptown Funk at Kaistart. Pleasing puppy with elegant but
masculinehead. Enough chest for age reaching quite well down to elbow. True
dobermann outline. Good topline and tailset. Nice tight feet. He was a little reluctant at first to move out but his confidence came and he then moved well with speed and drive. Best puppy dog.
2 Tyler’s Jojavik Bulletproof Bomb. Another promising puppy. Heavier made than 1 striking in outline very strong head. Moved ok.
3 Rodgers’ Aritaur Jamacia Me Crazy at Nolatari.

Junior (2, 1 w/d)
1 Tyler’s Jojavik Bulletproof Bomb. Pleasing puppy with a bright future. As with all the youngsters i will watch their development with interest.

Yearling (2) two strong dogs of slightly different build that undoubtly will change places many times.
1 Piper’s Swnydwr Double Take. Very strong head good level planes. Excellent chest and front , nice depth to brisket allowing good heart room . Enough spring of rib. Correct length of body which was well used when moving. Good tailset and rear angulation. He excelled on the move, his rear drive was superb.
2 Weatherall’s Kodam Propa Ganda. Another good dog. A little heavier in front but very well sprung chest . Liked his head and eye. Good general shape with cat like feet. Just not driving as well as 1 today.

Graduate (1, 1abs)

Post Graduate (8,1abs)
1 Dzuba’s Korfey Jet at Zajonti . All round pleasing youngster. Well shaped head with level head planes, good expression. Strong neck , correct front angulation. Well sprung rib. Good rear angulation , excellent turn of stifle and perpendicular hocks. Tight feet. Strong topline which was held on the move. Moved out quite well.
2 Cottingham’s Chancepixes Adonis. Liked his head and expression although ears a little big. His front assembly was a set a little too far forward which spoiled his outline. But nevertheless a dog who moved well with drive and fit for purpose.
3 Reid’s Nerak’s American Idol JW SCHM

Limit (9,1abs)
1 Michael’s Jojavik Swedish House Mafia. Outstanding young male. Very eye catching. Strong but elegant head with good head planes. Keen alert expression and definetly “on it” ! Good reach of neck, nicely arched. Flowed into very well angulated shoulders, firm topline, strong ribcage with good heart and lung room. Strong rear that was well used on the move. Perpendicular hocks and good tight feet. Well set tail. He moved out very well forming a pleasing picture on the move. Good all round dog. Pleased to
award him dog cc and ultimately he was best in show.
2 King’s Nerak American Dream. Another excellent youngster. Pleasing head with level planes. Strong muzzle. Quite well laid shoulder. Correct length of body. Firm topline that was held well on the move. He is a brown dog of good colour and superb depth to coat. Beautiful dog.
3 Bell and Gibson’s Martifer’s Pot Noodle.

Open (14, 1abs) a great class to judge some very beautiful dogs and very worthy champions.
1 Cairns’ CH Supeta’s Secret Wizard at Dronski JW SCHM. Beautiful animal to go over and to behold. Very strong throughout. Powerful and extra strong muzzle. Good reach of neck. Well sprung rib. Clean outline superb turn of stifle. Powerful limbs. Moved positively keeping a superb outline. So impressive on the move. This dog had got true instinctive dobermann temperament he had clocked me 3 dogs out as i walked close to the dogs around the ring! Pleased to award him rcc.
2 Ingram’s CH, IR CH Jojavik Midnight Express JW SHCM. Another beautiful dog. Excelled in outline,elegant head, good reach of neck, well let down to elbow. Ribs well sprung. Good topline and tailset which were strong on the move. Moved extremely well.
3 Feeney’s CH & LUX CH Italo Elite House. This dog completed a trio of good Dobermanns.
